Dunlap Quarter Horses

We both grew up around horses.  Raised on farms, there was always a pony or a horse for us to jump on, talk with when times were rough, and celebrate with when things were good.  We learned many valuable lessons from our horses and grew to appreciate the valuable lessons they are able to teach all persons: those of patience, loyalty, love, kindness, responsibility and a good work ethic.  We learned early that horses have a significant contribution to make to the human race.

Not surprisingly, it was our interest in equines that was one of the things that brought us together when we were just 12 years old.  Darrell had gotten a new saddle for Christmas, but soon thereafter lost his horse in a tragic accident.  I had a horse which I could only ride bareback since I had no saddle.  Talk about a match made in heaven!  He brought his saddle over, and we've been riding together ever since...for 51 years now.

We are the proud parents of three grown daughters, three sons-in-law, and grandparents of six grandchildren.  Our daughters were all horse enthusiasts, showing their horses in 4-H, Open, and a few Quarter Horse shows from the time they were 8 years old until they were in college.  They showed Quarter Horses in Hunt Seat and Western Pleasure as well as Showmanship and Horsemanship.  Three of our Grandchildren are now also in the saddle.

Dunlap Quarter Horses began in 2002 after we had both retired from our respective careers in business and education.  Our plan was to breed quality mares and stallions to produce quiet, good-minded, willing and trustworthy foals that would ultimately make a difference in people's lives.  After a lengthy search for a couple of quality broodmares, and a comprehensive search for quality complementary  stallions, our breeding program began.  Today, we have a number of really nice mares and geldings that are ready to make a big difference in someone's life.  We are members of AQHA, OQHA and NSBA and are volunteers at Victory Gallop, a therapeutic riding program in Bath, OH.
